From Our Website
Award winning British photographer, I've have been lucky enough to work all over world -Working commercially mainly shooting portraits and documentary projects, both still and moving image. I'm also a practicing artist and resident of The Phoenix Studios in Brighton - where I live with my wife and two kids. To ensure the smooth running of each project, I always work closely with everyone involved, from client to crew making sure everyone has a voice and that we're all on the same page. My images have been used in a number of publications: the Wire magazine, The Independent, The Guardian, DJ magazine, Carlson magazine, Marie Claire, Triodos bank and Bazaar Magazine.
Equally happy working in studio conditions or on location, I have photographed portraits and documentary subjects for clients across Europe and the USA. To ensure projects run smoothly, I work closely with my clients from concept through to execution, and am happy to provide a free consultation in order to find the right solution to a brief.
I've had a long term interest in spaces and how we interact with and within them - in particular the spaces between our physical, metaphysical and virtual worlds. I met Alice a couple of years ago, she lives above my parent in-laws in Porte de-Clingnancourt, Paris - Alice is 98 and still very much involved with her local community and very passionately politically engaged - she's lived through World War II and was part of the French resistance in Lille - of which she has countless incredible stories to tell, many of which I have documented in short documentary that will eventually sit alongside the photographs.
My roots are in street and documentary photography. I will often use whatever camera I have to hand as I really enjoy being able to work in less constrained and more intuitive way, seeking out the quirks and finding beauty in the completely banal, ordinary moments - I use photography as a tool to help make sense of our nonsensical world.
I take on a lot of portrait commissions and like to shoot using natural light (when possible) and depending on my clients needs. I often find the best picture is the first or even the test shot - the moment before the sitter becomes fully aware of the camera. I also shoot a lot of studio portraits, so happy directing models and running larger projects.
