In the 1980's I spent ten years as a decorative painter creating the successful partnership Kerr & Erskine. Clients included many of London's best interior designers, the rich and famous. Although not formally trained, this is where I learnt my craft, to understand the use of colour, paint & materials. I have painted ever since and have built an enviable reputation for gutsy abstracted work. Starting with simple drawing of abstracted shapes and blocks of colour, that often resemble simple everyday items.

As a Commercial photographer, JAMES KERR is best known for photographing Houses, Gardens, Interiors, & Landscapes. His work can also be found in a variety of publications from magazines to coffee table books. He lives near Stratford upon Avon, UK and travels nationally and internationally for his work.
Following the publication of several books on the First World War I have developed a deep fascination and interest in military history, this combined with my experiences as a former infantry officer I am able to impart my knowledge with enthusiasm and depth of the subject to others. There is no doubt that to witness the places where so much took place, to see the folds, ridges and scars on the landscape, to view the villages, woods and memorials is the best way to really understand what happened.
